The competition has been run by SVIA in Switzerland since 2010 and is available in German, French and Italian. The competition, which takes place over two weeks in November, is free for everyone, requires no prior knowledge and, with a duration of 40 minutes, is perfectly tailored to the length of a school lesson. The aim of the competition is to spark interest in computer science topics, concepts and methods through exciting challenges and to encourage further engagement with computer science. It also aims to show young people how many-faceted and relevant computer science is in everyday life.
